Im Jahr 2013 findet zum zweiten Mal der Internationale Gesangswettbewerb für Kirchenmusik cantateBach! in Greifswald statt. Der Gesangswettbewerb ist sowohl terminlich als auch organisatorisch mit der 67. Greifswalder Bachwoche verbunden. Die Greifswalder Bachwoche ist das Festival Geistlicher Musik im Norden, das bereits seit 1946 alljährlich in Greifswald stattfindet.
Der l FÖRDERVEREIN l KUNSTUNDKULTUR l HANSESTADT GREIFSWALD l hat sich gemeinsam mit dem Kuratorium der Greifswalder Bachwoche entschlossen, dem traditionsreichen Musikfest in Gestalt dieses Gesangswettbewerbes eine neue Facette hinzuzufügen. Dabei sollen beide Veranstaltungen sich gegenseitig befruchten. So ist es vorgesehen, dass die Sieger des Wettbewerbes im ersten Hauptkonzert der Bachwoche als Solisten mitwirken. Der Wettbewerb ist ein reiner Gesangswettbewerb.

Alle Sängerinnen und Sänger der Stimmlagen Sopran, Alt, Tenor und Bass, die zwischen 1984 und 1994 geboren wurden, sind herzlich zur Teilnahme am Wettbewerb eingeladen.

I. Ablauf
Der Wettbewerb besteht aus einer Vorauswahl sowie Haupt- und Finalrunde.

1. Vorauswahl
Zusammen mit den Anmeldeformularen ist persönlich eingespieltes Ton- und Bildmaterial auf DVD einzureichen (keine reine Audioaufnahme!). Als Repertoire werden jeweils ein Rezitativ und eine Arie nach freier Wahl von Johann Sebastian Bach gefordert. Ausgeschlossen ist lediglich das Pflichtrepertoire der Hauptrunde und des Finales. Der Anmeldeschluss (Datum, an dem die Aufnahme inklusive der vollständigen Anmeldeunterlagen beim Veranstalter vorliegen muss) ist der 05.04.2013.

Die Vorauswahlkommission wählt aus allen Bewerbern die Teilnehmer der Hauptrunde aus. Sie werden bis Ende April benachrichtigt und nach Greifswald eingeladen.

2. Hauptrunde
Die Hauptrunde findet am 25.05.2013 von 10.00 Uhr an in Greifswald statt. Austragungsort ist der Dom St. Nikolai. Die Akkreditierung der Teilnehmer erfolgt bereits am Freitag, dem 24.05.2013 in der Zeit von 09.00 bis 12.00 Uhr.

In der Hauptrunde sind folgende Werke vorzutragen (moderne Stimmung):

Die Wettbewerbsbeiträge werden von Korrepetitoren begleitet, die vom Veranstalter gestellt werden oder auch von den Teilnehmern mitgebracht werden können (kein Vergütungsanspruch durch den Veranstalter!).

3. Finale
Die Finalisten werden von der Jury am 25.05.2013 im Anschluss an die Hauptrunde bekannt gegeben. Das Finale findet am 26.05.2013 im Dom St. Nikolai zu Greifswald statt. Die Veranstaltung beginnt um 20.00 Uhr. In dieser Runde werden die Teilnehmer vom Orchester der Greifswalder Bachwoche begleitet. Die Teilnehmer haben Gelegenheit, am Veranstaltungstag mit dem Orchester zu proben.

Das Repertoire des Finales setzt sich wie folgt zusammen (moderne Stimmung):

Die Preisverleihung erfolgt anschließend vor Ort.

Alle Wettbewerbsrunden sind öffentlich. Die Teilnehmerinnen und Teilnehmer haben vor Ort Gelegenheit zum Üben und Einsingen. Der Jury bleibt es vorbehalten, die Darbietung aus zeitlichen Gründen abzubrechen. Der Veranstalter behält sich zumutbare Änderungen in Ablauf und Programm vor. Die Entscheidung der Jury ist verbindlich und nicht anfechtbar. Der Rechtsweg ist ausgeschlossen.

4. Konzert der Preisträger
Am Montag, dem 27.05.2013 findet im Rahmen der Bachwoche das Konzert der Preisträger statt. Im Greifswalder Dom Sankt Nikolai wird die „Jesusvesper“ (einschließlich Magnificat) von Johann Sebastian Bach (Bearbeitung: Jochen A. Modeß) aufgeführt. Das Konzert beginnt um 20.00 Uhr. Die Preisträger sind berechtigt aber auch verpflichtet, als Solisten an diesem Konzert und den dazugehörigen Proben teilzunehmen. Die Gage ist mit der Zahlung des Preisgeldes abgegolten.

II. Preise

Für den Wettbewerb werden vier Hauptpreise ausgelobt. Es handelt sich um Geldpreise, wie nachfolgend angegeben:

1. Preis 4000 Euro
2. Preis 3000 Euro
3. Preis 2000 Euro
4. Preis 1000 Euro

In jeder Stimmlage (Sopran, Alt, Tenor, Bass) soll nur einer dieser Preise vergeben.
Darüber hinaus wird an einen der Finalisten der Sonderpreis des Publikums vergeben.

III. Wettbewerbsbedingungen

Die Teilnehmer erklären sich mit ihrer Unterschrift auf dem Anmeldeformular mit den Wettbewerbsbedingungen einverstanden und erkennen diese als für sie verbindlich an:

2. Vorauswahl
Mit der Anmeldung reichen die Bewerber eine persönliche Aufnahme (DVD oder VHS im Format PAL) ein. Eine Aufnahmekommission entscheidet über die Zulassung zur Hauptrunde des Wettbewerbs. Die Entscheidung wird den Teilnehmern bis zum 30.04.2013 (Datum der Absendung) mitgeteilt. Erklärungen oder Erläuterungen werden nicht gegeben. Es besteht kein Anspruch auf Rücksendung des eingereichten Materials.

3. Hauptrunde
Die Reihenfolge für die Auftritte der Teilnehmer wird am ersten Veranstaltungstag festgelegt.

Die Teilnehmer erhalten keine Reisekostenunterstützung.

Allen zugelassenen Teilnehmern der Hauptrunde wird die Unterbringung vom 23.05.2013 bis zum 26.05.2013 kostenfrei gewährt.
Die Finalteilnehmer werden kostenfrei bis zum 27.05.2013, die Preisträger bis zum 28.05.2013 untergebracht. Die entsprechenden Unterkünfte (ggf. privat) werden vom Veranstalter gestellt.

4. Bewertung in Hauptrunde und Finale

Es werden folgende Fähigkeiten bewertet:

Technisches Können
Musikalische Gestaltung (Rhythmik, Phrasierung, Ausdruck)
Stimmqualität
Künstlerische Persönlichkeit/ Präsenz
Jede Fähigkeit wird mit 0 bis 25 Punkten bewertet. Aus der Addition ergibt sich das Gesamtergebnis. Bei Punktgleichheit entscheidet die Jury über die Rangfolge. Den Teilnehmern wir auf Anfrage die erreichte Punktzahl nach Beendigung des Wettbewerbs mitgeteilt.

IV. Allgemeine Wettbewerbsbedingungen

Die Wettbewerbsleitung ist berechtigt, Anmeldungen ohne Angabe von Gründen abzulehnen.
Die Nichtteilnahme an den Proben und/oder am Konzert der Preisträger hat den Verlust des Preises zur Folge.
Die Jury behält sich das Recht vor, einen Preis nicht zuzuerkennen oder einen Preis zu teilen. Sollte ein Teilnehmer mit einem Jurymitglied verwandt sein, bei einem Jurymitglied engagiert oder dessen Schüler sein oder gewesen sein, so enthält sich das entsprechende Jurymitglied der Beurteilung. Teilnehmer, die versuchen, sich mit der Jury persönlich oder durch Dritte in Verbindung zu setzen, werden disqualifiziert. Die Wettbewerbsleitung kann nicht dafür garantieren, dass alle Durchgänge vor der gesamten Jury abgehalten werden. Die Jury ist berechtigt, von den Beiträgen nur Ausschnitte anzuhören.
Die Veranstalter behalten sich das Recht vor, von Rundfunk- und Fernsehstationen den teilweisen oder ganzen Ablauf des Wettbewerbs sowie des Konzerts der Preisträger aufnehmen und senden zu lassen. Dasselbe gilt für Film-, Audio- und Videoaufnahmen sowie für Aufzeichnungen für das Archiv der Greifswalder Bachwoche oder des veranstaltenden Vereins. Den Teilnehmern wird hierfür kein Honorar gezahlt. Das gleiche gilt für ein eventuelles livestreaming oder sonstige Sendungen im Internet. Auch zeitversetzte Wiedergaben oder Wiederholungen der Sendungen sind erfasst.

Mit der Anmeldung zum Wettbewerb erklären sich die Teilnehmerinnen und Teilnehmer mit sämtlichen hier dargestellten Maßnahmen einverstanden und räumen ihre sämtlichen im Rahmen des Wettbewerbs entstehenden Rechte (z.B. Urheber-, Leistungsschutz-, Persönlichkeitsrechte sowie sonstige Rechte) hiermit exklusiv und unbeschränkt dem veranstaltenden Verein und der Greifswalder Bachwoche zur Nutzung und Verwertung in jeglichen Medien ein. Es besteht kein Anspruch auf zusätzliche Vergütung. Die Bild- und Fotorechte am Wettbewerb liegen ausschließlich beim veranstaltenden Verein. Bei Zweifelsfällen gilt allein der deutsche Text dieser Wettbewerbsbedingungen als rechtsverbindlich. Der Veranstalter behält sich zumutbare Änderungen in Ablauf und Programm vor.

In 2013 there will be the second international singing contest for church music cantateBach! in Greifswald. The singing contest is connected to the 67^th Greifswalder Bachwoche. So it takes part　right before the Greifswalder Bachwoche which is a well known festival for sacred music in the north. It takes place in Greifswald since 1946 every year.
The booster club for art and culture of the Hanseatic city of Greifswald decided together with the board of trustees of the Greifswalder Bachwoche to add a new facet in the shape of this singing contest the traditional music festival. Both of the events are supposed to inspire each other. So it is planned that the winners of the contest will perform solo parts of the first main concert of the Bachwoche. The contest is a pure singing contest.

All singers of the vocal ranges soprano, alto, tenor and basso born between 1984 and 1994 are warmly invited to take part at the vocal contest.

I. procedure

The contest consists of a preselection as well as of a main and a final round.

1. preselection

Together with the application form you must submit sound- and video material on a DVD (no pure audio recording). As repertoire there will be expected one recitative and one aria of one's own choice of Johann Sebastian Bach. An exception to this free choice are the pieces of the main and the final round. The application deadline (the date on which the recording including all of the application documents must be submitted to the organizer) is the 5th April 2013.

The preselection-commission chooses the main round-participants of all applicants. You will be contacted until the end of April 2013 and invited to Greifswald.

2. main round

The main round takes place on the 25th May 10 a.m. in Greifswald. The venue is the "Dom St. Nikolai". The accreditation of the participants is planned for Friday the 24th May 2013 between 9 a.m. and 12 a.m.

In the main round the following pieces need to be performed (modern tuning):

The contributions are accompanied by a répétiteur supplied by the organizer or the participants own répétiteur (in the latter case no payment by the organizer!).

3. Final

The finalists are announced from the jury on the 25th May 2013 after the main round. The finale occurs on the 26th May 2013 in the "Dom St. Nikolai" in Greifswald. The event starts at 8 p.m. In this round the participants are going to be accompanied by the orchestra of the Greifswalder Bachwoche. The finalists have the opportunity to practice with the orchestra on the day of the event.

The repertoire of the final includes:

The winners-ceremony follows afterwards on site.

All of the contest rounds are public. The participants will have the on-site-possibility to practice and warm up before singing. The jury reserves the right to interrupt the performances due to time limits. The organizer furthermore reserves the right to make appropriate changes of the program and the schedule. The decision of the jury is binding and not reviewable. There is no right of appeal.

4. Concert of the awardee

On Monday, the 27th May 2013 the concert of the awardee is integrated in the context of the Bachwoche. In the "Dom St. Nikolai" of Greifswald the "Jesusvesper" (including Magnificat) by Johann Sebastian Bach (arrangement: Jochen A. Modeß) will be performed. The concert starts at 8 p.m. The awardees have the right but they're also committed to take part in the concert and the appropriate rehearsals as solists. The payment is settled with the prize money.
II. Prizes

There're four main prizes for the contest. It's a matter of prize money as followed:

2nd prize € 3000
3rd prize € 2000
4th prize € 1000

There should be only one of the prizes for every vocal range (soprano, alto, tenor, basso). Furthermore there will be given away the price of the audience for one of the finalists.

III. Conditions of the contest

The participants declare their agreement with the conditions of the contest and accept them as binding with their signature on the application form.

The application fee is € 30. The application will be confirmed once the complete documents, the recording and the application fee arrived. Incomplete applications or wrong data can lead to the exclusion of the contest. The application deadline is the 05th April 2013. Relevant is the receipt in the organization office. There's no refund of the application fee for non-attendance.

2. preselection

With the application the participants hand in a personal recording (DVD). A commission decides about the admission to the main round of the contest. The participants will be informed about the commission's decision until the end of April 2013. Comments or explanations won't be given. The submitted material cannot be claimed back.

3. main round

The order for the performances of the participants will be determined on the first day of the event.
The participants won't get any support for travel expenses.

For all participants of the main round there will be a cost free accommodation from the 23th May 2013 until the 26th May 2013.
The finalists will get free accommodation until the 27th May 2013, the awardees up to the 28st May 2013. The accommodations will be provided by the organizer (private housing possible).

4. assessment in the main round and the final

The following abilities will be rated:
- technical skills
- musical formation (rhythm, phrasing, expression)
- voice quality
- artistic personality/ presence

Every ability will be rated with 0 to 25 points. The sum of all categories will form the overall result. In case of level scores the jury will decide about the ranking. If requested the participants can be informed about their final score after the contest.

IV. general conditions of the contest

1. The organizers of the contest are entitled to refuse applications without further explanation.
2. Absence from the rehearsals and/ or the concert will result in the loss of the price money.

3. The jury reserves their right not to adjudge a prize or to share a prize. If one of the participants is related to one of the members of the jury or is involved to one of them or is/ was a disciple of one of them the person concerned will be abstained from the assessment. Participants trying to get in touch with one of the members of the jury personally or through a third person will be disqualified. The organizers of the contest can't guarantee that all of the contributions will be attended by the whole jury. The jury has the right to listen only to sections of the performances.

4. The organizer reserve their right to record or broadcast the whole contest or parts of it as well as the concert of the awardees by radio- and TV stations. The same applies for film, audio and video recordings, as well as for recordings for the archive of the Greifswalder Bachwoche or the organizing club. The participants won't receive a fee for that. The same accounts for a potential live recording or other broadcasts through the internet. Also time-displaced replays or repeats of the broadcasts are included.

With the application the participants declare their agreement to all of the mentioned measures and they entitle all of their accruing rights regarding the contest (e. g. copyright, ancillary copyright, personal rights and other rights) exclusively and absolutely to the organizing club and the Greifswalder Bachwoche for use and application in any kind of media. There's no claim for further salary. The rights for pictures and photos are exclusive to the organizing club. In cases of doubt only the German version of the conditions of the contest are binding.　 The organizer reserves the right to make appropriate changes of the program and the schedule.
